The restoration has progressed to the point where we are ready to begin the paint work phase of the project. After conferring with Bill Wahl of the Branford Trolley Museum, he informed us that the trolley was painted with different paint schemes through the years and we would have to decide which one to use. The decision I felt was an easy one to make since we are restoring the Bradley car to it's original likeness as it appeared when the car was first put in service in 1911.We were told to find a section which displayed enough original paint for us to be able to make an exact match. We were also told that the records show that all cars numbered 1068 to 1099 were originally painted a deep green. After removing several layers of paint which include light green, yellow, and red (trim piece) we came to the original coat of paint and found the original deep green coat that we were told would be there. As you can see, the color is a very deep green and appears to be almost black. The paint has been ordered and we plan to apply the primer coat and the first color coat next week.
